A Little of this and a little of that
Okay, I tried to find out what kind of plant this is by looking in my wild flower book, no luck. What is it? I'll send the winner a goober wheel and a banana moon pie.
Our men's group went dove hunting down south at San Paticio last Saturday on the Lonesome Dove ranch. We didn't kill that many doves, but we had a great time. It's a neat place, with a trap and skeet range. We all got to shoot for free, as much as we wanted.
To me the best part was being to teach some of kids how to shoot a shotgun for the very first time. We even had a couple men that had never been bird hunting before, so that was kinda neat. The ranch is connected with Man to Man Ministries out of Victoria. Their idea is to being men together through outdoor experiences, to teach about being Christian men. It is a good organization, with a great concept.
Well, I just got through taking some cough medicine. I have got a case of the crud. I think I need the Nara Visa Cowboy's recipe for cough syrup.

Looks like purple lantana or verbena to me. Did I win????

Response to mitchell county-No, you did not win! Verbena flowers are usually in a cluster of five, with leaves that are lacey edged. They are purple or bluish, however.(So are many other plants that have blue flowers!)
The picture is of flowers of the Lyre leaf sage(that's my guess-you have my address!) The flowers are arranged in a whorl. They are two-lipped and trumpet shaped. My second guess was the mealy sage. Very close to above.
Picture taker did not show leaves good. LOL
Cough syrup recipe:
1/2 cup whiskey (the cheaper the better)
1/2 honey
7 Tbs. glycerine
1 teaspoon menthol crystals 9get from local, friendly druggist) You can also get bottles from there. He may have a "house cough syrup" that he mixes. Ask.
Heat, do not boil until crystals are dissolved. Take 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon as needed. Go slow with first taste.
From Amistad cookbook.
In response to the responses, it looks like the sage you mentioned, but you are right, I did not get a good picture of the leaves. I will remedy that by going back to that spot in the woods and taking another picture. Then I can check it against my Texas wildflower book.
I guess I could call it a tie send the both of you a goober wheel and banana moon pie.
Thank's for the cough syrup recipe.
I want the banana moon pie for sure. What's a goober wheel???

Oh no, don't tell me your dear sweet mild mannered dad didn't expose you to the round peanut patties made in Jacksonville, Texas. The ones from Mexia are pretty good too.
BTW- send me your address to my email
(davidfurlow@cableone.net) I will get your authentic banana moon pie off to you. Maybe can throw a goober wheel.
