More than a Bump in the Road

Saturday we drove over to hear Abby sing in the UIL All region Choir. Stopped and ate at Taco Bell (Abby's choice not mine) and made our way home. On the way home my driving skills were put to the test. Around 9:00pm a wild hog ran across the road. I had set my cruise on 65 and really didn't have much time to take evasive action. I have seen what happens when someone tries to swerve and hit the brakes when trying avoid an animal. For whatever reason I had just enough time to say hold on, grabbed the steering wheel, did not touch the brakes and hit the hog dead center right on the license plate. He went under the car and exited right behind the front wheel on the driver's side. Oh yeah, I was driving my Nissan Sentra. It will get airborne when hits a 2 to 3 hundred pound hog.

It did get my heart pumping. None of us are hurt. The car will need a new bumper and various other parts, but is ok to drive around. By the way, dead wild hog on your car really has a strong order. Several folks have said the Lord was watching out for us. That kind of impact at that speed should flipped us over. The air bags didn't even deploy, of I never hit the brakes. I'll be getting estimates tomorrow and the Nissan fixed up.

I am sure glad I had my car sighted in, it's one bad hog killer. All jokes aside, He was with us that night.
